This would be my second favourite raw recipe book I have so far! I so appreciated the simplicity she shared in her book, it was so simple and easy to understand. I think that in this day and age, easy, but healthy food preparation needs to be easy for people who live lives on the go. Some of the recipes are a bit complex but on the whole, it’s pretty simple. Her recipes are good tasting and fun to make. She includes lots of tips for “green” living and her thoughts and ideas about the raw food lifestyle. There are a lot of pictures of her in her book, and you can see for herself that she lives what she teaches. I liked the fact that most of her recipes called for every-day ingredients. It’s a fun to flip through and get inspired by. I must confess I have been known to stay up in bed reading this recipe book!

Recently I just bought this book and let me tell you, I wasn’t disappointed. It was well done, just like her first book. But this time, it is simply loaded with delicious, simple; yet elegant recipes. I love the format she chose for this book, giving you 10 great breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks, and drinks with 10 recipes in each heading. I especially loved the way she had whole dinners planned under a theme, whether it was a “diner dinner”, a “raw barbecue”, or an “Italian style” supper, including a sweet to end the meal off with. Besides the great recipes, she shows you what a basic raw pantry would consist of, a germinating and sprouting timetable, and information on more raw foods. Most of the recipes aren’t actually created by her, but she got some fantastic raw chefs and friends to share their recipes and compiled it in this awesome book. She isn’t vegan and that’s the only thing that I can see being a problem to some people, but even if one is vegan, there are still loads of great recipes in the book to tempt a picky palette!

Every morning I try to drink some sort of tea with high anti-oxidants properties; which is why I was very pleased to have a found a good quality white tea that’s organic. Touch Organic puts it out, along with many other great teas and products. Being a tea fanatic I was glad to see the price was good and not really overpriced, as I often find organic goods to be. This is in the tea bag form and for myself; I find the bags very quick and handy when I’m on the run to go somewhere. Still, I would like to see Touch Organics put out the loose leaf form. They have the option that you can buy it in bulk or regular tea box. And I think for the constant tea drinker the bulk form is a great idea! The taste is very good, with a bit of a milder and less bitter taste than green tea; yet, white tea is supposed to be higher in anti-oxidants than green tea. I really enjoy this brand, the quality they promote, and the product itself.Â

If you’re into juicing, this little book is well worth buying. It’s my favourite juicing book simply because it’s easy, fun to look through, the pictures are beautiful, and the recipes delicious. She has nutritional info coinciding with the juice recipe which I really appreciated. Not only are there juice recipes but there are some nut milk recipes, smoothie recipes, and tea recipes. A couple of the recipes aren’t exclusively raw, but the rest of the book is loaded with wonderful super healthy recipes. It talks about fruit juicing as well as vegetable juicing and the benefits of doing so. She includes some helpful tips sprinkled throughout the nutritional information. Jucing is incredible to do for your health and to eat more fruits and vegetables in your day and this book tells you just how, whether you’re a beginner or a master at it. Just looking through it makes me want a glass of fresh juice on the spot.

This site, in my opinion, is the best raw online community there is! Everyone is always so supportive and encouraging. The nice thing about it is that if one has a question, there are over 2,000 members there (novices and experienced raw fooders) there for you, to answer and spur you on. This site covers probably every particular, question, and experience a raw fooder can have and is a rich source of information. Not only that, but the Gone Raw site has one of the best recipe collections on the web, often accompanied with a picture. I go there so often for that perfect recipe for supper and always find something I like. The recipes are catagorized and it’s very easy to find exactly what you want. One of the best things about this site is…it’s free! And in return, gives you so much! If one was to join a raw online community, that’s the one I’d pick.

The LaraBars are a treat indeed! I love them very much. The flavour is very tasty, the quality is outstanding, and the price reasonable. For the raw food exclusives, this flavour would be one to skip as it is not completely raw. Yet, it very close and for that reason, I do enjoy this flavour. It tastes exactly as it says, like coffee and chocolate together. LaraBar only uses organic products and the best of quality. The nice thing about them is that they are sold in a great amount of super markets in North America. I like to keep one in my purse so that whenever I feel hungry I have something raw nearby. This particular bar is rich in magnesium, iron, vitamin E, fibre, B vitamins, calcium, anti-oxidants, vitamin C and A, vitamin B-complex, zinc, and potassium. Definitely worth buying and then enjoying right on the spot!

This book is one of the best I’ve seen for the beginning raw foodist. It’s intriguing, informative, explained well, and fun to read. It covers everything from what raw food is, tips for shopping raw, commen questions and misconceptions about the raw lifestyle, the basic kitchen equipment, supplements, food awareness, to the benefits of eating this way. It is easy to read and a great way to introduce the basics of raw foods to those who are interested. The only thing that I would mention is that she is not vegan, but a raw vegan at that, so she enjoys her raw meat and eggs, as long as they are of the finest organic quality. Even if one is vegan there is a lot of gems to benefit from in this book. It’s not really an un-cookbook, but there are some recipes at the back of the book. Well worth the read.
